Oven Baked Bacon Stuffed Cheeseburgers

Growing up I would only eat a hamburger if it was grilled. Weird? Maybe. But a fried burger or a burger on a flat top I just would not eat. I thought it tasted so different from a grilled burger. Well, I've been craving a big juicy burger and like I said yesterday, I would have already busted out the grill by now, but not this year with this cold weather. I decided to try and make these cheeseburgers in the oven. I do like meatloaf so I thought I might like these. I must say I was a little hesitant at first given my weirdness about burgers but WOW what a surprise. They were delicious! I'm so glad I decided to make them. I think they will be my new "Go To" burger recipe for the winter.

Oven Baked Bacon Stuffed Cheeseburgers
Makes 4-4oz Burgers
WW PP=11 (including bun)
Cal 435, Carbs 32g, Fat 17g, Fiber 1g, Protein 36g

Ingredients
16 oz. lean ground beef (I used 93/7)
4 tbsp. onion soup mix
1 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp. Dijon mustard
1/4 cup real bacon bits
4 slices reduced fat cheddar cheese
sliced tomatoes, lettuce, etc for additional toppings
4 whole wheat bakery buns

Pre-Heat oven to 400.

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef with onion soup mix, Worcestershire, and bacon.  Shape into 4 oz patties.

To cook take a cooling rack and place on top of a cookie sheet. Place patties on rack and bake for 15-20 minutes or until juices run clear. About five minutes before removing from oven add a slice of cheese to each burger.

Serve on whole wheat buns with tomatoes, lettuce, and any other additional toppings of your choice. Enjoy!
